Alternative route to C2
A section of the C2 will be closed on 27 and 28 August 2024. Pedal Power has not been told about the proposed roadworks. The signs beside the path direct cyclists to use an 'alternative route'. Queanbeyan commuters know that if you are not prepared to ride on a high speed dual carriageway there is no viable alternative route. The upside is that the path closure is expected to be for 2 days instead of the initially notified 2 months.
If it’s not easy, they won’t use it.

Canberra cyclist to ride 4,500 km for renewable energy
Pedal Power member Gregory Andrews is today embarking on an inspiring 4,500 km solo journey from Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia to Bondi Beach in Sydney. Gregory’s initiative aims to promote the benefits of renewable energy and to raise funds for renewable energy systems to support regional and remote communities.
Working with police to improve infrastructure
Many of our members have been scared or injured by other road users acting dangerously. The ACT Police are trialling a new approach to using reports and evidence from the public to initiate action against dangerous drivers. We are aware of at least two reports submitted recently which the police acted upon.

Our voice heard
A large Fire and Ambulance station is being built at the south end of Clunies Ross Street. Pedal Power was consulted before construction started and our advice on how to allow for safe cycle traffic was accepted.
