Help Shape Pedal Power’s Future!

As we enter our 50th year, Pedal Power has undertaken a comprehensive, whole-of-organisation review using an empowerment evaluation methodology. This process, conducted in December, helped us identify our key strengths, areas for improvement, and priority focus areas, ensuring our future efforts align with the Strategic Plan for 2025-2027.

Barbara Pamphilon from the University of Canberra’s Centre for Sustainable Communities generously facilitated two workshops pro bono. These workshops brought together all key stakeholders, including Board members, staff, volunteers, and program representatives, fostering a collaborative and inclusive approach to shaping Pedal Power’s future.

The evaluation reviewed all Pedal Power programs and projects, with the findings highlighting four priority areas:

  1. Advocacy – our top priority.

  2. Income Generation – diversifying funding streams to strengthen financial sustainability.

  3. Volunteer Engagement – building a stronger, more connected volunteer base.

  4. Program Improvement – enhancing the efficiency and impact of our programs.

We’re excited to involve more members of our community in driving these priorities forward! If you’re passionate about advocacy and would like to join our team—whether on specific cycling issues or those in your electorate—we’d love to hear from you.

In addition, we’re establishing working groups to focus on the following key areas:

  • Income Generation: Developing strategies to ensure long-term financial sustainability.

  • Membership & Community Engagement: Creating initiatives to engage diverse groups, including people of all ages, backgrounds, and cycling preferences.

  • Program Efficiency: Improving program delivery to maximise reach and effectiveness.

Your voice matters! Whether you’re interested in advocacy, income generation, or enhancing member engagement, we welcome your involvement. Please contact Cecily Michaels at executivedirector@pedalpower.org.au to join a working group or learn more about these opportunities.

Together, we can strengthen Pedal Power and make cycling even more accessible, enjoyable, and inclusive across Canberra.
