Discovering the Northside

Our Easy Social Ride on Sunday 27 October took participants through Canberra’s scenic northern suburbs, with a delightful foray across the lake to visit the new sculpture in the National Gallery's Sculpture Garden. Led by Pedal Power’s own John Widdup, a much-loved volunteer, advocate, and Board member, the ride brought together new and returning cyclists alike. John kept a gentle pace, lowering his gears to ensure everyone could comfortably enjoy the ride.

Along the way, the riders circled the stunning new wetlands around Dickson, taking a few moments to soak in the natural beauty. A memorable highlight was the surprise encounter with a mother duck and her nearly-grown ducklings—she even gave John a warning hiss as she shepherded her family across the path!

This ride was a reminder of how joyful cycling can be, especially with friends. If you’re considering getting back on your bike, why not join one of our upcoming Easy Social Rides? We have more planned throughout November.

Our Easy Social Rides are free, but we ask you to register here, in case we have any last minute communications for participants.
