Pedal Power 2025 Budget Submission

From our President David Whitney

Pedal Power this week lodged a Budget Submission to the ACT Legislative Assembly articulating our programs and a strong case for future funding.

This also included a comprehensive summary of Infrastructure Projects that will support bicycle safety and promote Active Travel.

The submission identifies that without Government funding for Pedal Power (which was redirected in 2023/4 to Auscycle) our public programs supporting 5 key government policy priorities are in jeopardy.

The submission also strongly supports the tireless work of our Advocacy Team who continue to identify and prioritise infrastructure projects across Canberra for each of the electoral divisions.

Please follow the link on our website to the Budget Submission to see how our programs and priorities align with your support for Pedal Power.

Cecily and I have been meeting with MLA’s to ensure they are aware of the work and programs of Pedal Power and response to date with elected representatives of the Greens, Liberals and an Independent have been very positive.

We have meetings scheduled with Labor Ministers soon.

Following the Assembly Committee Review process in late February, I will advise how our submission has been received and may ask members to contact their local MLA’s to lobby for financial support for Pedal Power public programs.

With our current financial position, we are unable to commit to presenting Cycling Without Limits beyond 2025.
